More Detail...
On the Static-Line jump, you will be wearing your own parachute system and exiting the aircraft solo at 4,000 feet (above the ground) where the Static-Line, attached securely between your parachute container/harness and the airplane, will deploy your main parachute as you fall away from the airplane allowing you to pilot your own canopy (assisted by an instructor communicating via radio) to a soft, safe landing on our dropzone land.
The required Static-Line First Jump Course takes between four to five hours. This ground school teaches you about the parachute equipment and its operation, the procedures you will use for riding in and climbing out of the airplane, how to exit the airplane in a stable body position, and how to properly fly, navigate, and land your parachute. Safety is very heavily emphasized throughout the entire static-line class.
All skydivers (students and experienced) wear equipment containing two complete, functional parachute systems on every jump. A main (which can be released if necessary) and a reserve (for emergencies). The First Jump Static-Line Course will educate novice jumpers on how to recognize a main parachute malfunction, and how to properly react to them. Students are instructed and drilled over the procedures required to properly react to all possible emergencies, including those that will require the jumper to jettison his or her malfunctioned main canopy and activate the reserve parachute.
